Porcelain Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are artificial teeth replacements that are made of very thin porcelain. These teeth replacements are very durable and are custom-made by dental professionals. They are installed on the front side of the tooth for cosmetic purposes. Veneers can be used as an alternative to the traditional crowns as well as for the treatment of a lot of different teeth problems.
Like other dental replacements, veneers also have an expiration date and the application of the new veneers is required after a certain period of time. However, these applications usually require replacement after a certain number of years.

Importance of Porcelain Veneers

The Process of Getting Porcelain Veneers

Two appointments are required for the application of the veneers and a very small amount of anesthesia can sometimes be required during the procedure. A very light buffing procedure is carried out for the preparation of the teeth and the shaping of the tooth surface to accommodate the thickness of veneer. The dentist will create a mold of the teeth that is taken and the color of the teeth is mutually decided by the dentist and the patient.
Special liquids are applied on the mold during the second appointment in order to create a strong bond. A bonding cement is applied between the veneer and the tooth and a light beam is used for hardening the bond.
Afterwards, the patient receives the instruction guide that contains the proper brushing and flossing instructions to extend the life of the new veneers.
